FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: luminance ratio values and residual values in the colour channels of the colour space are created based on the individual pixels in the high dynamic range image HDR and the derived tone-mapped (TM) image that contains one or more colour changes that will not be recovered from the TM image by the brightness ratio image. The TM image with the HDR reconstruction data obtained from the luminance ratio values and the residual colour channel values can be output to the image file in the device located below the process scheme, for example, for decoding, display and/or storage.
EFFECT: providing the ability to decode a file to create a restored HDR image without colour changes.
