FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: method of measuring antenna gain in a full-scale environment, which includes generating a high-frequency signal and measuring its power; tapping a portion of the power of the high-frequency signal; emitting the signal using a reference antenna towards the investigated antenna; receiving the signal by the investigated antenna; summation of the signal with the tapped high-frequency signal; covering a region of space which is substantial for propagation of radio waves between antennae, based on observing the condition of the far zone from each of the antennae to the coverage point, the cross-sectional area of which is defined by the expression S>πRr2Sin2Dr/2, where Dr is beam width of the reference antenna, Rr is the distance from the coverage point to the reference antenna; varying the strength and phase of the tapped high-frequency signal to obtain a zero power level of the summation signal; opening, between the antennae in the cross-sectional plane, a region of space which is substantial for propagation of radio waves.

EFFECT: method reduces errors in results of measuring the antenna gain of radioelectronic equipment in multi-beam radio wave propagation conditions.
