FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, neurology, and assessment of cognitive processes and visual spatial perception in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. It can be applied as a biomarker for current neurodegenerative process, as well as for assessment of treatment effectiveness. Brain is examined by means of functional MRI (fMRI) at rest; zones of neuronal activity in passive mode network (PMN) of brain operation are identified. These zones are represented by precuneal portions, rear portions of cingulate gyri, medial frontal portions, and lower parietal lobules of right and left cerebral hemispheres. In case of statistically significant reduction of spontaneous neuronal activity PMN only in lower parietal lobule of right hemisphere, relative to neuronal activity PMN level in its other zones, initial neurodegenerative manifestations in PD are diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides high accuracy of diagnostics of neurodegenerative process in PD at early stage of its development.
