FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for carrying out ecological monitoring of the state of the sea area of the Tsemesskaya Bay of the Black Sea, including the sampling of sea water annually in May and September from at least two different points: the first one is the location of biological test objects of the Black Sea mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis and/or oyster Black Sea Ostrea edulis, the second and subsequent points are at a distance of at least one kilometre from the location of biological test objects. The selected samples of seawater are examined for the content of petroleum products; if the selected samples of seawater contain petroleum products with a concentration of more than 0.05 mg/dm3 and if the samples of muscle tissue contain biological test objects of petroleum products with a concentration of more than 0.15 g per 1 kg of crude mass, it is concluded that the region of the sea area of the Tsemesskaya Bay of the Black Sea is contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons.

EFFECT: expansion of the range of methods for integrated environmental monitoring of marine areas in terms of the content of oil products.
