FIELD: biology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to molecular biology, virology and medicine. Invention discloses a method of isolating nucleic acids using isopropanol at precipitation step and precipitation of DNA, characterised in that in initial treatment of biological material is a detergent and guanidine hydrochloride in sodium acetate buffer as a carrier and nucleic acids are 0.05 % linear polyacrylamide. Nucleic acid isolated in said manner may be used in formulation of polymerase chain reaction, as well as in medicine and veterinary medicine for diagnosis of inherited diseases in humans and animals, forensic medicine, genetic fingerprinting, diagnosis of pathogens of human and animal infectious diseases, including sexually transmitted diseases. Advantage of method is to facilitate isolation of nucleic acid and human blood and animal tissue, which is very important when carrying out mass analysis of different samples in diagnosis of infectious diseases.

EFFECT: using a linear polyacrylamide LPAA as a coprecipitant increases yield of nucleic acid from sample.
