FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device for assembling tyres of vehicle wheels. Method comprises placing carcass sleeve including at least one carcass ply on a shaping drum comprising two half- drums and two supports. Each support is operatively associated with one of half-drums and carries a plurality of turning-up levers having free ends positioned close to respective half-drum. Two annular anchoring structures are placed around carcass sleeve. Each of two supports is locked relative to respective half-drum. Threaded shaft is set in rotation for giving a toroidal conformation to carcass sleeve. Each of two supports is unlocked relative to respective half-drum. Threaded shaft is set in rotation for lifting free ends of said turning-up levers until turning up end flaps of carcass sleeve around annular anchoring structures.
EFFECT: higher quality of finished articles.
