SUBSTANCE: according to method, at the moment of short circuit on each end of protected section of power transmission line signal of industrial frequency current phase in three-phase electric network is generated, passing through this end, and current phase signals are exchange between these ends via communication channel, as well as comparison of current phase signals is performed at each end of protected section of power transmission line to each other and with set threshold which leads to generation of signal on line switching off, characterised by that the current phase signal is generated in the form of readings of phase angles in discrete time instants with a preset sampling rate using instantaneous values of the composite signal of three-phase electric network currents, and comparison of sampled current phase values at each end of protected section of power transmission line to each other is carried out in the same discrete moments.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability of detecting SC points.
