FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for hiding an anode array during electrolytic aluminium production in aluminium electrolytic cell. Method comprises loading a cryolite-alumina charge consisting of a mixture of alumina and crushed electrolyte at anode surface in two layers of array, wherein method includes loading a first 5-10 cm thick layer of a cryolite-alumina charge, a second layer with thickness of 3.5 cm in form of alumina, loaded onto a crust of sintered alumina-cryolite charge 1-1.5 hours after loading first layer.
EFFECT: providing low heat loss from surface of cover, reliable protection of anode from oxidation, reduction of operating costs related to preparation of covering material, reducing time of formation of a solid crust, protecting anode from oxidation.
