FIELD: communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and can be used in process communication systems. Device includes a process communication interface (114) for communicating on a process communication loop in accordance with a process communication protocol. Controller (106) is coupled to process communication interface (114). Rules store (116) is coupled to controller (106), and has at least one process communication packet rule that is based on process communication protocol. Controller (106) applies at least one process communication packet rule to at least one process communication packet received from process communication interface (114), and generates event information when a process communication packet fails at least one process communication packet rule.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of reliability of communication.
