FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for prediction of genetic predisposition or high risk of developing infectious endocarditis (IE) in patients of a risk group. Method involves sampling venous blood, extracting genetic material, carrying out a polymerase chain reaction, determination of gene polymorphism. Method includes performing genotyping on polymorphous locus of I105V GSTP1 gene of patients of a risk group, and upon detecting heterozygous version I105V at its carriers, a high risk of infectious endocarditis is predicted. Individual is included in a risk group, said individual having congenital or acquired heart defects, and without prosthetic valves and other operations on heart, coronary arteries with immunodeficiency states, addicts with risk development of severe infection.

EFFECT: disclosed method enables to detect individuals, genetically predisposed to IE, helps to determine therapeutic approach to patients and personalising complex preventive and therapeutic approach.
