Method for predicting the outcome of infective endocarditis includes sampling of venous blood, isolation of genomic DNA, allele-specific polymerase chain reaction for the purpose of genotyping at the MTHFR Ala222Val(C677T) polymorphic locus of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene of persons at risk and in carriers of the genotype MTHFR Ala222A1a(C677C) a favorable outcome of the disease is predicted, and in carriers of genotypes MTHFR Ala222Val(C677T)/MTHFR Val222Val(T677T) risk of death multiple of 12.33 is predicted.
EFFECT: invention can be used to predict the outcome of infective endocarditis.
