CATHETER WITH IMPROVED SAFETY LINE FOR DISTAL TIP AND RELATED METHOD Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B5/42 A61B18/14

Abstract RU 2659018 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically, to versions of a catheter for stimulating and mapping electrical activity in the heart and ablation of areas with disturbed electrical activity, and a method of manufacturing a catheter point electrode. Catheter comprises an elongated catheter body and a safety line. Line has a tension part located in a channel part to pass around a rounded distal surface. Catheter includes a point electrode located at the distal end of the elongated catheter body. Point electrode has an electrically conductive inner support member having a channel part forming a rounded distal surface. Support member has a round cross-section of varying dimensions. Catheter includes an electrically conductive dome-shaped shell mounted on the support member and in the form of a hollow tube or cylinder and having a closed and rounded atraumatic distal end and an open proximal end. Safety line is designed to fix the point electrode, and a part of the line is located in the channel part to pass around the rounded distal surface. Channel part has a U-shape. Second version of the catheter includes a tube with a proximal end and a distal end. Shell has a cavity, a dome-shaped distal end and an opening at its proximal end. Support member has a plug portion located in said opening of the shell, a hollow proximal portion disposed at the distal end of the tube, and a distal portion extending into the cavity of the shell. Support member has a U-shaped channel that forms a rounded distal surface. Safety line is configured to fix the point electrode and has a tension part passing through the U-shaped channel part to pass around the rounded distal surface. Method of manufacturing the point electrode of the catheter includes providing a support member of a point electrode and a shell. Further, a channel is formed in the support member of the channel forming a rounded distal surface. Safety line is then pulled into the channel to pass around the rounded distal surface. Line has two parts extending proximally to the rounded distal surface. Shell is then mounted on the support member.

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of tension and strain of the safety line.
