FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an illumination controller for lighting system and to a lighting system, configured for adaptive control. Result is achieved by controller (102) configured to control lighting system (100) for emitting light, comprises image sensor (202), configured to capture image of area of activity, and control unit (200), configured to receive image to detect movement in area of activity and to provide activation signal to switch on source (104, 106, 108, 110) of light of lighting system (100), control unit (200) is further configured to provide signal deactivation for switching off source (104, 106, 108, 110) of light after calculated time period, if no movement is not detected in area of activity, calculated time period is based on calculated distance between a predetermined position in area of position of latter and activity of detected movement in area of activity.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption of lighting system.
