FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to MCVD technology of manufacturing workpieces for producing fibre-optic guides. Method of calibrating quartz tubes includes one-sided heating of a quartz tube by moving means of flame heating on side of thickened part of wall of quartz tube until softening thereof. Simultaneously, excess pressure is created, which provides its blowing up, which leads to alignment of all sections of wall of quartz tube. Quartz tube is then rotated using flame heating until a circular section quartz tube is obtained along entire length.
EFFECT: reduced variation of thickness in pipes.
