SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Method of decoding residual coefficients of transformation unit of video bit stream, in which transformation unit is received from video bit stream, wherein conversion unit has square layers of upper level and lower level, wherein square layer of upper level is square layout of flags groups of significant coefficients, each of flags groups of significant coefficients is non-overlapping square area of layer of lower level; according to the internal prediction mode determined scanning pattern square layer upper and lower level, which is same for upper and lower square layers; flags are determined groups of significant coefficients square layer upper layer of received transformation unit according to certain scanning pattern; and value of residual coefficients square layer of lower level according to certain flags groups of significant coefficients for decoding video data bit flow conversion unit.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of throughput by harmonisation of upper and lower scanning templates.
