SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Method of decoding video data from a video bit stream in which encoding residual coefficient data for four 4×4 subblocks within 8×8 square block is received from the bit stream, encoded data of two flags of a group of significant coefficients and coded position data of the last significant coefficient in said square block; determining, in accordance with the inverse diagonal scanning order, two flags of a group of significant coefficients respectively associated with two of said sub-blocks within a square block of size 8×8; determining, in accordance with the order of inverse diagonal scanning for four sub-blocks in a square block with size of 8×8, residual coefficients in case one of the residual coefficients is significant; determining that all residual coefficients for two of the sub-blocks are equal to zero when the din of the residual coefficients in the two sub-blocks is significant; and generating video data based on determined residual coefficients for sub-blocks in said square block.

EFFECT: technical result is to reduce unwanted memory usage.
