SUBSTANCE: method of decoding video data from a bit stream, in which encoding data of residual coefficients for a conversion unit, which is presented as a square block of a predetermined size, is received from the bit stream, and encoded data of at least one flag of a group of significant coefficients for indicating whether at least one of the residual coefficients in the corresponding subblock of the square block is significant, wherein flags of significant coefficients for indicating whether a certain corresponding residual coefficient is significant are encoded as part of residual coefficients; determining the order of scanning a flag of a group of significant coefficients and the scanning order of residual coefficients for the transformation unit according to the internal prediction mode; determining a flag of a group of significant coefficients, corresponding to subblocks of the square block, according to a certain order of scanning a flag of a group of significant coefficients; and residual conversion unit coefficients are decoded.

EFFECT: technical result is to reduce unwanted memory usage.
