FIELD: medicine; image forming apparatus.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, specifically to image formation using multiple modules. Multi-module imaging system comprises gantry, including first and second imaging modules of an image forming apparatus, respectively having first and second bores, and subject support, gantry is configured to alternately move to first and second positions and wherein first and second modules are configured for scanning head of subject. Method of forming image for multi-module system comprises loading a sub-portion of a subject, via a subject support, into a first bore of a first module, performing a first scan of sub-portion using first module, unloading sub-portion from first bore, rotating gantry to position a second module, loading sub-portion, via subject support, into a second bore of second module, performing a second scan of sub-portion using second module and unloading sub-portion from second bore, wherein first and second modules are configured for scanning head of subject.
EFFECT: invention provides improved optimisation of image forming apparatus for small objects.
