FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention can be used to produce hydrogen-containing gas on the basis of the mixture of mixture CO and H2 (synthesis gas) from natural gas and other hydrocarbon gases. Method of producing hydrogen-containing gas includes mixing natural gas with oxygen, partial oxidation of natural gas with oxygen at temperature of 1,300-1,700 °C to produce hydrogen-containing gas and cooling the flow of the obtained hydrogen-containing gas to the temperature lower than 550 °C at a rate of more than 100,000 °C/s. Reactor for producing hydrogen-containing gas contains an oxygen and natural gas supply device, a zone where natural gas and oxygen are mixed, a zone for the reaction by partial oxidation of natural gas with oxygen and a zone where the flow of the obtained hydrogen-containing gas is cooled,wherein those zones are arrange one after the other in the direction of the process; the cooling zone is equipped with cooled rotating body located in such a manner that hydrogen-containing gas washes the body along its axis to provide intensive cooling of hydrogen-containing gas flow due to its contact with the rotating body.

EFFECT: invention provides suppression of secondary reactions leading to formation of soot during a high output process, as well as allows a simple design and compact dimensions of the reactor.
