FIELD: nanotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of multi-layer coating on cutting tool and can be used in machining. Lower layer of titanium nitride is applied. Then, intermediate layer of titanium, aluminium and niobium nitride compound at their ratio, wt%: titanium 65.0-74.0, aluminium 2.0-5.0, niobium 24.0-30.0. Then upper layer of nitride of titanium, zirconium, aluminium and niobium compound is applied at their ratio, wt%: titanium 44.3-52.8, zirconium 29.9-32.4, aluminium 1.3-3.3, niobium 16.0-20.0. Layers are applied horizontally in one plane by three cathodes. First cathode is made of titanium, second one consists of zirconium and located opposed to first and third is from alloy of titanium, aluminium and niobium and located between them. Lower layer is applied using first cathode, intermediate layer is applied by first and third cathodes, and upper layer is by all three cathodes. Then coating is treated with laser radiation with power density in range of 38-46 kW/cm2.
EFFECT: result of application is higher cutting efficiency.
