FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and represents a method of determining contamination of the oral cavity by urease-positive microbiota, characterised by that the urease activity determination is performed as follows: into one of the microplate holes urea water solution with a phosphate buffer is injected, in two others urea water solutions with a phosphate buffer containing urease with known concentration of 5 and 10 units/l respectively are injected, and in other holes urea water solution with a phosphate buffer and oral fluid samples are added, then in all holes phenol/nitroprusside reagent and hypochlorite are added, after which the optical density is measured on a microplate reader at a wave length of 546 nm and the concentration of urease in samples of oral fluid in units/l is measured, if the urease activity value is above 15.85 ± 2.11 units/l contamination of the oral cavity by urease-positive microbiota is recorded.
EFFECT: invention implementation enables to identify the need of antimicrobial therapy for prevention of formation of solid dental deposits and inflammatory periodontal diseases.
