FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic diagnostic system for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of a vehicle. Vehicle is equipped with an internal combustion engine and the SCR system located below the engine downstream of exhaust gases. SCR includes at least one gas sensor measuring the concentration of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the flow of exhaust gases. Method employs first sequence (S1), containing: providing a fixed state of the vehicle; engine control for ensuring its operation in the mode of emissions of large amounts of NOx oxides and in the mode of emission of small amounts of NOx oxides; registration of a value of the output signal of the said at least one gas sensor when engine (2) operates in each of the two above mentioned modes; and diagnosing characteristics of measuring the concentration of NOx oxides of the said at least one gas sensor (11, 12) on the basis of the registered value of the sensor output signal.
EFFECT: using the invention simplifies testing and checking the SCR operation after repair.
