FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for application of electric field, a method of its use, as well as a method of its production. Device for application of electric field to a conducting volume comprises an electric field applying assembly, configured to generate an electric field, having a profile of a discrete electric field; conducting volume; electrical interface region provided between conducting volume and electric field applying assembly and arranged so that discrete electric field is applied to electric boundary region by electric field applying assembly in a place, separated from conducting volume. Electric boundary region comprises ion-conducting material, arranged tightly to conducting volume and in contacting with it, and discrete electric field applied by electric field applying assembly is smoothed by electric boundary region so that electric field profile established within conducting volume is substantially continuous.
EFFECT: technical result is possibility of smoothing electric fields applied to microfluid devices or "laboratory on chip" (LOC) devices.
