FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nanocomposites based on polyethylene and layered silicates. Nanocomposite was obtained by treating pre-dehydrated montmorillonite (MMT) with catalyst components consisting of a transition metal compound VCl4 and organoaluminum compound Al(i-Bu)3, followed by polymerization of ethylene on deposited catalyst. Moreover, polymerization in sity is carried out on MMT particles of an average size of 8 mcm and with interplanar spacing in particles of 2.46 nm. Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene in the resulting nanocomposite has molecular weight of at least 1.5⋅106. Nanocomposite contains montmorillonite nanoparticles in amount of 0.7 wt% to 8.3 wt% and has modulus of elasticity (Ep) not less than 810 MPa, tensile strength (σpp) at least 35.5 MPa, relative elongation at break (εpp) 260–370 % and wear on the skin is not more than 35.1 mm3.
EFFECT: nanocomposite has high values of deformation-structural characteristics and high durability.
