FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly, to machine parts, and can be used in multistep gear assemblies with large-diameter wheels lubricated by means of dipping. Gear box contains a housing with an oil bath, into the liquid lubricating material of which lower gear wheels of different gear steps are submerged. Part of the volume of the oil bath, in which a lubricating material can be located, excessive to ensure optimal lubrication of the gearing elements, is substituted with similar air volume enclosed in a tight rigid shell inscribed in the gear box housing. Said shell is rigidly fixed in the gear box housing with provision of required gaps between it and the gearing elements. Inside the shell there is a ballast weight not less than the positive buoyancy force of the shell volume.

EFFECT: provided is lubricating material saving.
