FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for extracting a short-circuiting wedge inserted between two conductors for disconnecting an electrolyzer in a row of electrolytic cells for aluminium production. Device comprises a means of gripping the wedge and at least one bearing cylinder oriented vertically and having a housing and a piston with a rod, herewith the housing or the rod is rigidly connected with at least one horizontal support surface directed downward and arranged to allow the wedge extraction when the extraction device is installed above the wedge, the upper horizontal surface of each conductor is located at the same level with the horizontal support surface, as well as with the wedge gripping means to allow the wedge extraction by the bearing cylinder providing opposite forces on the conductors and the wedge for their separation.

EFFECT: provided is higher reliability and safety of operation with the possibility of controlling the trajectory of pushing the wedges.
