FIELD: geology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technical means of immersion into geological formations of the Earth's crust. Radioisotope device for immersion into geological formations of the Earth's crust includes heat-producing and connecting elements to make a single-layer axisymmetric heat-producing structure. Height H of the heat-producing structure and its maximum size D in the plane perpendicular to axis of symmetry of the heat-producing structure are selected from the condition: D>4H. Heat-producing elements are spherical. They are interconnected by the connecting elements made of a refractory material and are arranged with clearances. Clearances form flow channels between the top and the bottom surfaces of the heat-producing structure. Each heat-producing element comprises a tight shell made of a refractory material and filled with a composition containing isotope 60Co. Thickness δ of the tight shell and diameter dc of the tight shell cavity filled with the composition containing isotope 60Co are selected from the conditions: δ < 0.5·(µO)-1, dc/2 < 0.5·(µT)-1.
EFFECT: invention allows improving efficiency of using energy released to melt surrounding rocks.
