FIELD: engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to onboard diagnostic systems for detection of deterioration of component characteristics due to deliberate damage and to a method of response to states detected in onboard diagnostic unit of the motor vehicle and indicating the deterioration of component characteristics of the motor vehicle. Method involves the first response action if conditions indicate the deterioration of component characteristics due to deliberate damage, and the second response action if conditions indicate the deterioration of component characteristics not due to deliberate damage. Also proposed is the onboard diagnostic unit.
EFFECT: detection of deliberate damage in exhaust gases control components during a single driving cycle.
