FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to elimination of NOx and non-methane hydrocarbons from diesel engine exhaust gases. A motor vehicle engine system, comprising a first diesel-type oxidation catalyst (DOC) configured to receive exhaust gases from the engine and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) device installed downstream of the first DOC in the direction of flow of exhaust gases. The system also includes a second DOC installed downstream of the SCR device and configured to oxidise hydrocarbons. The system employs sorption of hydrocarbons on a SCR catalyst, which depends on temperature. The system can also include a nozzle installed downstream of the first DOC in the direction of flow of exhaust gases. The system can also include a particulate filter placed downstream of the second DOC and configured to remove soot from exhaust gases.

EFFECT: reducing emissions of non-methane hydrocarbons when releasing engine exhaust gases.
