SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to fodder production. Method of forming edible chewing product for animals involves extrusion of edible composition to produce an extrudate and bringing the extrudate in contact with multiple forming rollers. Note here that at least one of forming rollers has an uneven surface to get in contact with extrudate of said uneven surface. An uneven roller surface contains multiple bulges for creation of irregularities on the surface of the extrudate. At least some of bulges have an elongated shape and are offset at an angle to direction of rotation of the forming roller. Note here that said oblong shapes are oriented in two or more different directions. Device for surface modification of the extrudate contains multiple forming rollers. Note here that at least one of forming rollers has an uneven surface and forming rollers are arranged around central axis, continuing in the direction of extrusion. An uneven surface of the rollers comprises multiple bulges for creation of irregularities on the surface of the extrudate. Some thickening have an elongated shape and are offset at an angle to direction of rotation of the forming roller, the said oblong shapes are oriented in two or more different directions. Edible masticating article has a longitudinal axis and an outer surface, extending in lengthwise direction and containing multiple cavities, some of which have an elongated shape and are shifted by angle to longitudinal axis of this product.

EFFECT: data elongated recess are offset at an angle of at least in two different directions the outer surface has no more than two irregularities on 15 mm long, measured in longitudinal direction of chewing products.
