METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE SHOOTING DISTANCE IN CASE OF GUNSHOT INJURY Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC A61B5/117

Abstract RU 2602645 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to forensic medicine, and can be used for determining the shooting distance in case of gunshot injury. Method for determining the shooting distance in case of gunshot injury comprises: detecting morphological "signs of exposure of accompanying components of shooting" according to table 1 of the description. At first step, when injured through clothes the presence of a print of the front end of the barrel in the area of damage of clothes (X1); presence of cloth defect, exceeding a caliber of shot (X2), and wound defect exceeding a caliber of shot (X12) are detected. When open body area is injured, the presence of print of the front end of the barrel in wound (X11) and wound defect exceeding a caliber of sot (X12) is detected. Shooting distance is determined as "at point-blank range". If signs X1, X2, X11, X12 are not detected, the second step of analysis of signs X1-X23 are performed, by using mathematical methods: Bayes sequential procedure, total discriminatory analysis and binary logistic regression. As a result, two states are determined: shooting "at point-blank range" and "from close range". Conclusion about the shooting distance is made based on the result of determining of one of two said states, obtained by at least, two said mathematical methods.

EFFECT: method provides simple and objective determining the shooting distance by assessing the complex of the most significant morphological signs of injury and using mathematical methods.
