SUBSTANCE: invention is related to power supply systems for mobile pit equipment. Disclosed is a method of operating supercapacitor system used in a pit excavator powered from electric power source, the electric load contains first electric load with at least one electric motor and the second electric load without electric motor. Method includes stages, at which the presence of a power line from electric power source is detected; voltage level is measured with the supercapacitor system, If power to the line is absent; the measured voltage level is compared to the minimum level of voltage for the supercapacitor system; and the auxiliary power of the supercapacitor system to the second electric load, if the measured voltage level is higher than the minimum voltage level.
EFFECT: technical result providing power supply systems with low power consumption for a long time, if the main power supply line is absent.
