FIELD: metal processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal processing and can be used, for example, for measurement and control of articles with cylindrical or conical shape linear sizes and with surface recesses and protrusions on during grinding operations. Measuring method consists in using built-in into measuring rod and its tip fibre-optic converter (FOC) with fibre spiral twisting, acting as reflector with semitransparent face. Said converter is part of first optical transducer measuring channel, which enables to determine article surface position with subsequent calculation of its size in contactless measurements even in case of lubricant-coolant or its vapors presence. There is also possibility to measure tip and product temperature by second optical transducer and introduce temperature errors correction into product sizes measurement result.
EFFECT: invention usage enables to expand measuring method technological capabilities, reduce requirements to optical system and simplify its design.
