FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing and using nickel-based supported catalyst in reactions for recovery of basic classes of industrially important organic compounds: when producing caprolactam, aniline, alcohols and fats. Method of producing catalyst for hydrogenation reaction, comprising impregnation of support with a nickel solution, its drying, subsequent calcination and restoration, according to invention support is used in form of dispersed powder, impregnated with 0.3-2.3 M aqueous solution of nickel nitrate at a ratio of 5-10 g support per 100 g nickel nitrate solution once, filtered, dried at 80-100 °C, restored (activated) at 350-450 °C in a stream of hydrogen 20-40 cm3/min, passivated by adding in an atmosphere of hydrogen into fatty mono-atomic alcohols C16-18 at 80-100 °C, ready catalyst is stirred and cooled to room temperature.

EFFECT: technical result is improved catalytic properties, simple and cheap process of production, considerably longer storage life, improved transportation.
