SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for defects control. Essence of invention consists in that defects control method comprizes of: first process of ultrasonic vibrations generation in steel sheet surface; second process of echo signal (F) and echo signal (B) detection in ultrasonic vibrations; third process of value correction detection of echo-signal (B) detected at the end of steel sheet, based on the detection value of echo-signal (B), detected in the area of the general assessment, at that the area of the general assessment is other area than the end of steel sheet; and the fourth internal defect evaluation process of steel sheet based on the detection value of echo signal (F), obtained in the second process, and detection value of echo-signal (B), corrected in the third process at the end of steel sheet.

EFFECT: technical result is possibility of accurate detection of reflected waves in the vicinity of the edge of the inspected object in electromagnetic ultrasonic flaw detection.
