FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to investigation of materials by means of thermal means and method and device for quantitative determining content of waxes and wax-like substances in refined vegetable oils is described. Method is characterized by cooling a vegetable oil sample cooled till complete gelation, sample is exposed by optical radiation at two wavelengths, and quantitative content of wax and wax-like substances in the oil sample is determined based on a calibration curve. Proposed device comprises a cooling-heating device, control-registration device, thermally insulated ditch, fibre-optic light guides are tightly mounted in the ditch walls, optical axes of the guides are located at the same level in one cross-section of the ditch, optical axis of the third light guide is arranged normally to the optical axis of the first and second light guides, outputs of the control-registration device are connected to control inputs of the emitters and the cooling-heating device, and outputs of temperature sensors and outputs of proportional photodetectors are connected to corresponding inputs of the control-registration device.

EFFECT: invention can be used for analyzing vegetable oils by optical methods.
