SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the oil and fat industry, and in particular to a method for quantitative and qualitative determination of the content of waxes and wax-like substances in vegetable oils. The method for determining the quantitative and qualitative content of waxes and wax-like substances in vegetable oils includes preparing a sample by cooling, filtering and heating, analyzing the sample, calculating the content of waxes and wax-like substances in the test sample of vegetable oil based on calibration lines previously obtained during chromatography, while sample preparation is carried out by cooling it to a temperature of 0°C and holding for 16 hours, filtering through a paper filter with washing the resulting precipitate until completely degreased with petroleum ether at a temperature of 0°C, and then with 95% ethyl alcohol at a temperature of 80°C, keeping the resulting alcohol solution for 16 hours at a temperature of 0°C, filtering out the precipitate formed in the process of keeping through a paper filter, washing three times with 95% ethyl alcohol at a temperature of 0°C, drying at a temperature of 75°C to constant weight and dissolving in chloroform, at the same time, the analysis of the sample is carried out by chromatography using a mass detector, determining the area of ​​​​the peaks of waxes and wax substances, and the calculation of the content of waxes and wax substances in the test sample of vegetable oil is carried out according to a pre-composed equation that describes the calibration straight line, built in the coordinates "concentration of waxes and wax-like substances - the area of ​​peaks of waxes and wax-like substances":

where y is the content of waxes and wax-like substances, wt.%; x is the peak area of ​​the vegetable oil sample; a and b are the coefficients obtained by mathematical processing of the calibration line.

EFFECT: method provides high accuracy and rapid measurement.
