FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding of metal articles. Welding is performed with at least two electrodes with supply of current pulses of ultrasonic frequency. Current pulses from sources, feeding electrodes, are supplied to different electrodes with different polarity and with same frequency and positive pulses are shifted relative to negative pulses by 180 electrical degrees. At beginning of welding common lead of current sources is connected to welded article with provision of flow of overall heteropolar current from arc with frequency of power sources through a crystallising welding pool. Along entire length of welding pool during its crystallisation is exposed to magnetic field in plane perpendicular to axis of seam.
EFFECT: higher mechanical properties of weld metal due to improvement of its structure and reduction of residual stresses in heat-affected zone.
