FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to X-ray engineering. X-ray source includes housing (19), in which, in particular, may be generated homogeneous X-ray radiation. In compliance with this invention, that in case the target is provided aerogel (12), for example, in the form of a core (45), the aerogel (12) due to its very low density and high energy evaporates. Therefore, the target is directed by the coil (46), so that always there provided is not consumed target to generate, in particular, homogeneous X-ray radiation. Aerogel (12) is fixed on a metal film (40) of light metal or more light metals, the metal film (40) has holes, which overlap target material. Invention also relates to a method of generating X-ray radiation, as well as use of X-ray source for radiographic inspection of bodies (for example, human bodies).

EFFECT: reduction of deceleration radiation and service life of the source.
