FIELD: physics, measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to measure the boundary level of liquids with different densities and electroconductivity, permittivity from 1.5 units, the liquid/precipitate boundary at oil and gas companies and in nuclear power engineering. The technical result is achieved by a method which comprises inputting into a control and signalling device data on the height of the container with liquids or liquid with a precipitate, using a radar level gauge to measure the distance to a liquid with lesser density, sending the information to the control and signalling device, launching a measurement cycle, comprising calculating the value of the lowering of an ultrasonic sensor below the level of the less dense liquid, lowering the ultrasonic sensor tuned to sound speed in the less dense liquid, transmitting an ultrasonic signal from the ultrasonic sensor and receiving the signal reflected from the denser liquid or precipitate, calculating the boundary level of the liquids in the container by subtracting from the height of the container the calculated value of lowering the ultrasonic sensor and the distance measured by said sensor from said sensor to the boundary of the less dense liquid and denser liquid or precipitate, saving and outputting data to external devices.

EFFECT: invention enables to measure the boundary level of liquids in a container and ensures high accuracy of said measurement.
