FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to curable coating compositions that provide a protective epoxy coating to protect pipes, valves and other metal substrates, particularly steel substrates during transportation and use at construction sites even in extreme conditions. Here is the description of the curable coating composition, containing the first part and the second part. The curable coating composition comprises a liquid epoxy resin in the first part of the curable composition, rubber particles of core/shell structure in the first part or in the second part, or both, wherein the core-shell rubber particles may be present in an amount of from 0.1 wt % to 50 wt % based on the total weight of the epoxy resin. The curable coating composition also contains a reactive agent of elasticity in the first part of the curable coating compositions that may be present in the amount of from 0.1 to 50 wt % based on the total weight of the epoxy resin. The second part of the curable composition includes an amine curing agent containing at least two amino groups of formula -NR1H, where R1 is selected from hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl. The curable coating composition additionally comprises a non-reactive polyamide thixotrope. There is also the description of the cured coating comprising the reaction product of a curable coating composition, the product comprising a substrate having an outer surface and a cured coating of curable coating compositions, the method of protecting products by providing a coating of a curable coating composition and a product obtained by this method.

EFFECT: invention provides a flexible and damage resistant coating with a strong adhesion and reduced time needed to become dry to the touch.
