FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for assessing the capacity, efficiency and specific activity of vaccines against hepatitis B virus (HBV), for studying the antigenic specificities of HBsAg having different subtypes and carrying different mutations, including serologically significant mutations of immune and vaccinal escape, and for clinical diagnostics. Summary of the invention: sandwich ELISA is used in assessing the level of antibodies which are specific to one or another HBsAg version and obtained from immunization. Polystyrene plates covered with polyclonal HBsAg antibodies are used as immuno sorbents. The plates are treated with native or recombinant HBsAg characterized by genotype, subtype and the presence of mutations. Then the test serum is added. At the final stage the plates are treated with a conjugate of antibodies against integral IgG, IgM and IgA immunoglobulins with horseradish peroxidase and the bound conjugate is detected by a colour reaction with TMB.

EFFECT: method enables a spectrum increase of the tested antibodies specific to various forms of hepatitis B virus HBsAg, including the subtype and mutant forms, and quantitative assessment of the antibody level.
