SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hand-held diagnostic instrument to be used with the analytical test strips while determining glucose in blood, includes a body (110); a microcontroller unit (112) disposed in the body; and a hematocrit measuring unit based on the phase shift (114). The hematocrit measuring unit, based on the phase shift, includes a signal generating subunit (120), a low frequency filter subunit (122), a contact surface subunit for interacting in a cell while sampling analytical test strips (124), a transimpedance amplifier subunit (128) and a phase detector subunit (130). Furthermore, the hematocrit measuring unit based on the phase shift and the microcontroller unit are adapted to calculate a physiological fluid sample phase shift in the measuring cell of the analytical test strip placed in the hand-held diagnostic unit. The microcontroller unit is adapted to calculate the hematocrit level in the physiological fluid sample subject to the measured phase shift.
EFFECT: device usage allows to determine accurately glucose in the blood drop.
