FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: total cylinder air consumption is adjusted during blow-off by means of the oxygen sensor. The mount of air entrapped by the cylinder and the amount of the cylinder purge air are regulated on the basis of the adjusted total cylinder air consumption.

EFFECT: reduction in the toxity of exhaust gases due to more accurate determination of the air amount involved in combustion in the cylinder by reducing sensitivity between cylinder air consumption and the fuel supplied for combustion estimates.
