FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an alkylation process that can be used in the chemical industry. Proposed is a method that includes contacting isoparaffin feedstock having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms and olefin feedstock having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, in the presence of a catalytic composition of a trialkylphosphonium ionic liquid in the alkylation zone under alkylation conditions in order to generate the alkylate, where the catalytic composition of the trialkylphosphonium ionic liquid contains one or more trialkylphosphonium haloaluminate compounds having the formula

in which the radicals R1, R2 and R3 are the same or different and are each independently selected from C1-C8 hydrocarbyl and X are selected from F, Cl, Br, I, or combinations thereof.
EFFECT: new efficient method for alkylation of hydrocarbons has been proposed.
