FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of airborne exploration of a terrain using a helicopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle is to measure the dose rate at a flight altitude and bring its value to the altitude of interest using the dose rate over the radioactively contaminated terrain from the measurement height. The determination of the magnitude of the reduction in the attenuation of gamma radiation by the air layer is carried out by establishing the dependence of the dose rate on the measurement height, compiled from the measurement results in a vertical flight above the surveyed radioactively contaminated terrain.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability of conducting radiation investigation of the terrain contaminated with radioactive substances.
