FIELD: detection of radiation situation.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining a safe route when overcoming a portion of hilly radioactively contaminated area further comprises steps of, at which an initial route is laid through a hilltop, a route is previously sent to a mobile radiation survey device, when performing the survey, a dose rate meter is used, having a statistical measurement error of not more than 1 % with a confidence probability of 0.95, a hill radius R is determined from the map, two measurements of dose rate at 2.5R and 2.6R are carried out, based on the obtained results, calculating a relative gradient of gamma-radiation dose rate increase, if the obtained value exceeds 0.145/R, then a new route is laid around the hill at a distance of its two radii R.

EFFECT: determination of optimum route of movement along radioactively contaminated terrain, ensuring minimally possible dose of radiation.
