In the method of determining the number of point gamma-radiation sources within the surveyed area at the initial stage of search operations, the number of gamma-radiation sources within the surveyed area is determined by detecting the number of gamma-radiation dose rate maxima along a circle covering the investigated area.
EFFECT: information on the number of sources makes it possible to plan further operations to select the most suitable means and methods which provide the most efficient localization of hazardous objects while observing the radiation safety requirements of the personnel involved in the work.
