FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method is realised in the following way: the level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor - BDNF is determined in blood serum of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and if BDNF level is from 500 to 1000 pg/ml, moderate cognitive disorders are diagnosed, if BDNF level is from 1000 to 1700 pg/ml, light cognitive disorders are diagnosed, if BDNF level is higher than 1700 pg/ml, cognitive disorders are absent. The invention provides early diagnostics of cognitive disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

EFFECT: method is self-descriptive, accurate, objective, meets modern requirements to methods of laboratory diagnostics and can be recommended for application in clinical practice.
