FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: history data is analyzed, clinical symptoms are evaluated, the allergological status is studied using a general blood test in which the level of eosinophils and the level of total immunoglobulin E in the blood serum is determined, a cytological study of induced sputum is conducted to determine the percentage of eosinophils. Additionally, the Asthma Risk Index (ARI) is analyzed and, with its positive value and the eosinophil level in sputum equal to or greater than 2.5%, bronchial asthma is diagnosed. Moreover, at the eosinophil level in sputum of less than 2.5%, a second study is carried out and, when an at least two-fold increase in the eosinophil level in sputum is detected, bronchial asthma is diagnosed, at that, the repeated study is carried out at least once every 6 months, and when respiratory symptoms appear - more than once every 6 months.

EFFECT: method application allows to diagnose bronchial asthma with high accuracy at early stages for children aged 5 years and under.
